So I'm knitting this blue bow tie, and it's curling up. I know maybe that wet blocking will help, but how much? And this is taking forever, too. Taking time out of my hands that I could spend more productively. I mean, Just how much is this worth to me. To make a dinky, rinky-dink bow tie.
I don't know. But I'm glad I don't have to decide this minute for a million dollars or something. I'm sure they'll make a game show like that some day, and I'll laugh at the people trying to decide. But right now it's a personal decision and I think that I will continue on with it.

Knitting Design
So I'm knit a bow tie, the only problem is that it's too long. And knit laboriously by me, and I could advertise my design by saying it's an Intro to Sweatshop 101. So the longness of the neck strap didn't cramp my style. I could still wear it as an edgy statement with a white top.
Well, I'm experimenting more with thicker thread and higher needle (thank god, that number one is torture.) It's blue and there's two balls of it. My mind goeth to the the nether regions.
Besides that, no other projects up on the board. I'd like to get over to the knitting store before my money runs out.

Wet blocking
When knitting it's natural to pick up the basics of knitting and put them into the vast storage of knowledge which we call the brain. Greedy little entrepreneur and creative genius that I am, just shy of my 4th year of knitting, I begin to make my own designs. The first idea which pricks me is a bow tie.
I make it out of silk/wool blend, fine, making a paper pattern to follow. Everything is going well, I'm to the neck, but the fabric is curling the hell out of my project (if that's possible).
So I'm looking online and I see "wet blocking."
And I think... this is my salvation. So I'm anticipating the end of my project, where I wash and then pin down the bow tie and after some light ironing, it accedes to the proper shape.

Stitch holders.
There are so many different items you can use rather than expensive stitch holders. You can use small bits of colored yarn or ribbon. These have no difficulty staying on, but they do have difficulty when slipping them from one needle to the next. Even less conventional are office supplies: paper clips, rubber bands and even zip ties, curled pulled until they are very small then cut, are a treat to use.

Running and Knitting
Was thinking about running today. There's this one guy who runs without fail everyday a couple of miles; they call it a running streak. They get sick, they run, they feel bad they run, they feel good they run. So pretty much they cultivate the good habit of running, when I run a couple of yards, I start losing my breath and start feeling like my legs are lead. But there is only one place where I am like this.
Knitting's kind of like that for me. I feel bad, I knit, I stay in bed, I knit, I feel good, I knit: I only stop when I run out of yarn.
Sometimes people need a rock in their lives. An activity or person who keeps them stabilized and sane, that they can turn to again and again to keep them on track. That's what knitting is to me. It's a safe haven where I can turn to against the storm. I can create and build knitting dreams and live in them.
So life moves on and knitting like a red thread in a otherwise drab garment moves with it.

Sorry Folks.
World Knit in Public Day was cancelled. My mom had a major headache and I couldn't have asked her to go out into the heat like that.
However, I did summon up the gumption to finish that pair of undies I was knitting. No clue what I did, but the fact of the matter seems that he --I've dubbed it a he-- was simply too small in the front, about an inch too small. And somehow, though I'm sure to have meant to get the two sides equally spaced, it simply did not happen.
It was a sad and quiet day today, unfortunately. But I've made the best of it, as I'm sure you will. Please knitters, comment on your day.

World Knit Day
What has befallen us but World Knit in Public Day. The world is such a strange place, that we have to add to it by knitting, usually such a private function, in public.
Especially when you are making underpants out of scratch, using the blueprints of one of my own pair of underwear. Or making some sort of hat out of impossibly difficult-to-see yarn on double point needles which makes things all the more impossible and I pulled it out in frustration three times already...
However, good sense prevails and tells me that I should just knit up that hot pink fun fur into a boa. How long does this knit in public thing have to last anyway?
So I'm probably not knitting the worlds greatest pattern to make something super impossible. I just have to accept that I'm a knitting intern, on the lowest scale of the knitting evolutionary ladder and have not gotten to knitting super hero yet. But I swear! I must master those double-pointed needles if it's the last thing I do.

Knitting is Negotiable
When knitting a new project, one thing I can always count on is that until I say so, the project's not finished. The knitting can be undone, the knitting can be altered, the knitting can be changed.
Recently, I began on a purple scarf, using Bernat Boa yarn and double-point needles. I used 36 stitches, and nearing the end of the skien, the light dawned. The yarn would only make a miniature scarf, maybe of 2 feet. So I take it out and over and begin again.
Perhaps I'll make a scarf this time, or maybe just decrease the stitches. Either way, I'll remember I CAN ALWAYS UNDO.

Depression Hurts, But Knitting Rocks
Sometimes I get depressed and all I can do is knit. I mean, I take pills and everything. They keep me happy and somewhat sane.
But really we have no control over our environment. And I can control myself with those little tiny stitches. Really to have control over some little thing is pretty important for someone who lives out her world in her head, whose parents are divorced, and who half believes in God half the time and has no clue what turn the world will give her.
Knitting to me is therapy, more than therapy, it's a way of changing a tiny little thread into a garment a loved one can wear and treasure for a long period of time. It's a way of making a little happiness in this sea of misery.

A Stitch in Time Saves...
The nuncio is a word which means announcer, and I'm here to proclaim the good news of knitting. It's therapeutic, creative, and fun. I love to design new creations, and keep up with what's new in the knitting world. In a place where there are only 2 different stitches to use, the endless variation of yarn and possibilities is endless.
Right now I'm knitting a boa to wear to the grocery store out of Lion Brand Fun Fur. One skien is aqua marine and the other is cream. I can't wait to try it on!
